Tasting Note: A blend of the three Champagne varieties, slightly heavier on the Chardonnay, this is a crisp, citrussy sparkling wine with subtle notes of brioche and white flowers; in the mouth it is fruity, honeyed and moreish.
Food Matching: There is no specific drinking occasion for the brut reserve. Its elegance and lightness gives it a flexibility to be the champagne for the moment but it is always excellent as an aperitif.
Production Method: Colour: Deep straw cast. Nose: Crisp, citrusy aromas show a subtle, toasty note. Palate: Medium-bodied. High acidity. Moderately extracted. Displays an elegant and balanced impression on the palate, with lively mousse. Crisp and flavourful through the finish.
Vineyard: Taittinger Brut Réserve is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier wines from over 35 vineyards and vintages matured to perfection.
Vinification: The grapes for the Brut Reserve come from the prime vineyards throughout Champagne, with approximately 50% coming from the Taittinger estate. Produced each year from the first pressings of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay this is the efinitive cuvée of Champagne Taittinger. It is a carefully balanced blend of wines from up to 25 different ‘crus’. It also includes a portion of reserve wine to ensure consistency from year to year. Prior to release the Brut reserve is aged for 3-4 years giving the wine depth whilst allowing parts to become fully integrated.
