Tasting Note: Fruity, floral notes, fresh and well balanced. The nose is aromatic green apple, melon and white peach. The palate is balanced, smooth with a generous texture and a touch of petillance. White peach, apples and tangerine on the palate leading to a long, crisp finish.
Food Matching: Oysters, seafood, fish.
Vineyard: From vines planted on granitic soils, mostly using single cordon (known in Portugal as cordão simples) with some pruned using the Silvóz training system. Planted at a density of 1,670 vines per hectare. Harvesting is by hand.
Vinification: The grapes pressed at low pressure to retain delicate aromatics of the fruit. Fermentation is in stainless tanks with temperature control ( 12 to 14ºC) over three weeks.
Awards and Press News: Angela Mount Look no further for the most delightfully fresh, light, and zippy Summer white – and at only 10.5% alcohol, it’s a brilliant buy for alfresco lunches, or a glass in the sunshine. From the northern part of Portugal, it’s part of a new wave of deliciously crisp, bone dry whites from the Vinho Verde region, which are now hitting the shelves. It smells of freshly-cut green apples, lemon zest and meadow flowers; taste it, and it tingles the senses with its crisp, lively flavours, and, with a tiny hint of spritz, it’s packed with vibrant lemon and lime, granny smith apple and white peach flavours. Perfect on its own, this delicate little number will be a subtle partner to oysters, the freshest of seafood, and light vegetable salads. Bath Chronicle Angela Mount For lunchtime picnics, Vinho Verde is the perfect choice, and rapidly coming back into fashion – forget the sweet fizzy stuff of old, today’s versions, are crisp, dry, and lemony-bright with the merest hint of spritz, and utterly refreshing both in taste and in lightness of alcohol. Vinho Verde Quinta da Lixa is ideal, at a mere 10.5% alcohol, and won’t have you dozing off on the beach after lunch. Enjoy with the freshest of salads.
