Tasting Note: A nose like a bakery – toasted brioche, sweet pastries, fresh bread – becomes a tangy mouthful of peach and grapefruit.
Vineyard: The 2012 vintage exhibits exceptional maturity, complexity and charisma. Noticable is the softness and freshness in a vintage where the red grapes were more prominent in the blend, especially the Meunier representing 26% of the blend.
Vinification: The core of the blend is eight historical Grands Crus — Aÿ, Bouzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, Le Mesnil — plus the legendary Hautvillers Premier Cru. The 2012 vintage was excellent in Champagne and regarded as one of the best vintages at Moet & Chandon with the this cuvee being no exception. Aged for 5 years on its lees and 6 months bottle ageing following disgorgement.
